European Research and Innovation Days

On 24-26 September 2019, the European Commission’s Research & Innovation Directorate-General is hosting the inaugural European Research and Innovation Days at the KANAL-Centre Pompidou, Brussels.

The event aims at bringing together world leaders from industry, finance, academia and business to debate and shape the future research and innovation landscape. Particularly, it seeks to engage stakeholders to collaborate to the building of the strategic priorities for the first 4 years of Horizon Europe, the successor to the current research and innovation framework programme (Horizon 2020), beginning in 2021. The event also intends to mobilise EU citizens and increase general awareness and understanding of the role of research and innovation in addressing societal challenges.

The event will feature (1) a high-level Policy Conference, (2) an Innovative Europe Hub and (3) the annual ‘Science is Wonderful’ exhibition. The programme will include several research & innovation themes (‘clusters’) including: (1) health; (2) culture, creativity and inclusive societies; (3) civil security for society; (4) digital, industry and space; (5) climate, energy and mobility; (6) food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment.

On 24 September, our Project Coordinator Karim Lekadir (University of Barcelona) and Edwin Morley-Fletcher (Lynkeus) will take part in the session “Data for Health” (Room Galileo, 17:10-18:10). Particularly, Dr. Lekadir will present euCanSHare objectives and vision within the talk “International flagship collaboration with Canada for human data storage, integration and sharing to enable personalised medicine approaches” and discuss relevant challenges with key stakeholders in the digital health sector.
